ANTHONY ONYEGBULA, DO

James R. Eckman, M.D. is Emeritus Professor of the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine.

 

He established the world’s first 24-hour comprehensive acute care sickle cell clinic at Grady Memorial Hospital and became its first Medical Director. He helped to champion universal mandatory sickle cell screening for newborns in 1998. He has broad sickle cell disease research experience and is a member of several local and national committees. He received his medical training at the University of Minnesota Medical School.

Anthony Onyegbula, DO is a Hematology Specialist in Stockbridge, GA, and has over 24 years of experience in the medical field.

 

Dr. Onyegbula has more experience with Blood Disorders than other specialists in his area. He graduated from Michigan State University / College of Osteopathic Medicine medical school in 1996. He is affiliated with medical facilities Piedmont Henry Hospital and Southern Regional Medical Center.

OTIS S. POWELL, JR., M.D.

Otis S. Powell, Jr., M.D., is a board-certified, practicing Family Medicine practitioner with extensive experience in treating sickle cell disease in office and emergency settings. 

 

Dr. Powell has been in practice for 38 years. His work in sickle cell began with his residency in 1985. He developed a relationship with SCFG and began treating patients with SCD in 1991.

 

Dr. Powell has served as SCFG laboratory director for 15 years and is currently the Medical Director. He completed his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University and a residency at Morehouse School of Medicine. Dr. Powell is the Medical Director at the Sickle Cell Foundation of Georgia, Inc.
